Departure
Darkness, daybreak
Charter bus awaits
Last bite of breakfast
Last hugs goodbye.
The Dennison Eagles are ready to fly!
Camaraderie, kindness
Excitement galore.
A hike through the terminal
No Starbucks is seen.
The Dennison Eagles are standing by!
Resting, polite,
Plane flight a delight
Most have traveled before
So nothing surprises.
Dennison Eagles are making us proud.

Today marked the beginning of our Williamsburg 2019 Adventures! After a bit of a turbulent flight, we arrived safely in Richmond, Virginia. The historic Jamestown settlement was our first stop, where we watched people make beautiful blown glass. Many of us made our first souvenir purchase here! Along with the blown glass, we got our first glimpse of the James River. A few of us thought it was a lake... Let's just say, clearly Colorado rivers do not compare to the east cost rivers.
A short while later we headed to dinner, followed by the hotel, got settled in our rooms and quickly left for our first evening program, Defense of Our Liberty. Everyone experienced what it was like to be an American Soldier during the Revolutionary time period. The soldiers shot muskets, and treated us like we we knew recruits for the American Army. We all had to practice marching in various ways. It was a lot harder than many of us realized; really had to pay close attention and work as a team. The capper this wonderful day consisted of chasing and catching fireflies, followed by a quick dip in the pool. Needless to say, day one of the Williamsburg trip was amazing!
