Dear Dennison Community,

We are “Dennison Crew - Dennison Strong” and I find this quote to be very timely as we continue to navigate through uncharted waters at many levels.

“For the rest of your life, you will always be able to say I was a member of a very special team whose whole was greater than the sum of its parts, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.”

The collaboration, encouragement, kindness, and belief in Dennison, philosophically and as a community, continues to inspire me.  Thank you for the way you are all partnering with us this year.  I know many of us feel we are a member of a special team that continues to rise to the complexities and challenges brought before us.

At this point in time  you have received the district update regarding where Jefferson County is in terms of CoVid cases and the possible impact on schools.  We are operating daily with what is vs. what might happen.  Obviously we have plans in place if needed.  Students and all staff continue to work within all protocols to keep Dennison going as successfully as we are.  Both in-person and remote students are engaged and focused on learning.  We are focused on what is in our control each day and will continue to act in thoughtful, proactive ways as needed.  Health and safety are main concerns along with all students learning and feeling supported.

MASKS:

Please send a clean mask with your child daily.  If your student needs new masks, the Dennison masks are available again on our website.

There are some good reminders on these websites about mask care so they remain clean and well-fitting.

COLD WEATHER REMINDER:  We are expecting a drastic shift in weather over the weekend.  Please remember to send your child to school with coats, gloves, hats, etc. as we will always go outside for recess and mask breaks  if it is above 17 degrees.

SPIRIT DAY PHOTOS:

We are so excited for Dennison's Spirit Day on Friday, October 30th!  Please send photos of the kids in their spiritwear to DennisonYB@gmail.com so we can feature them in the yearbook. We would like to devote a whole spread (one to two pages) in the yearbook to celebrating the season with the kids in their outfits. We are also looking for more photos, in general, for the yearbook and invite you to send photos at any point during the school year. Thank you for capturing and sharing your school memories with us.

PARENT RESOURCES:

We are so fortunate to have a halftime Social Emotional Learning Specialist, Kelly Miller, at Dennison.  She has created a resource document for parents to support the social emotional needs of their children during this time.  Click here for the Social Emotional Parenting Support for Students for the 2020-21 School Year

CELEBRATIONS:

Dennison is 3rd for Ebook checkouts through Axis 360!    Woo Hoo!!

The PTA Reflections Contest always produces amazing student work.  Please take time to view the wonderful work from some of our students.  This year’s theme:  I Matter Because….. Click here to see the virtual exhibit (press present)    Dennison REFLECTIONS PRESENTATION 2020-2021

CALENDAR:

Please remember that Friday, November 13 is a Non-student contact day for students. Teachers will spend the day participating in professional learning opportunities.

Continue to review the online calendar as it reflects the most current information.

Thank you for being such an important partner and member of the Dennison Crew!

Enjoy the weekend.
